The Armonico Consort perform two recently uncovered forgotten
masterpieces – Francesco Scarlatti’s 16-part Mass and Dixit Dominus.
Often dividing into four interlacing choirs, these are intricate works full
of dazzling vocal acrobatics and arguably one of the greatest musical
discoveries of the century. Paired with Vivaldi’s much-loved Gloria, this

OLIVER BAILY (Violin) MOLLIE WRAFTER (Violin)
ABIGAIL HAMMETT (Viola) ROBERT WHEATLEY (Cello)
‘Impassioned intensity’: **** Review of Conway Hall, London
recital by Fiona Maddocks ‘The Guardian’
This quartet first came to Llandeilo in 2017, when, as students in
Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music, they had only just formed
their ensemble. In 2023 they were finalists in the Cavatina String Quartet
Competition, in London’s Wigmore Hall. The members of the quartet use
instruments made, in the workshop of W E Hill and Sons, from a single
tree. Whether or not for that reason their sound is meticulously blended,
something which is likely to be even more marked in the superb acoustic of
St. Teilo’s Church.

Jess Dandy
“The stunning young contralto Jess Dandy...
offered sumptuous tone and beautiful legato.
She's a name to watch” Neil Fisher, The Times
The young Cumbrian-born contralto, Jess Dandy, joins the stellar array of
leading singers who have graced the Festival since its inception. She is without
doubt the foremost British Contralto of her generation, having been widely
praised for her instrument of velvety plangent timbre and for her remarkable
artistic immediacy, having even been likened by ‘The Times’ to Kathleen
Ferrier. Jess will be accompanied by Welsh pianist, academic, and writer Ceri
Owen. As a pianist she specializes in song accompaniment and has performed
widely in the UK and further afield. She was awarded the Pianist’s Prize at the
Grange Festival International Singing Competition and the John Kerr Award
